His early education began at Plymouth Primary School and continued at the Montserrat Secondary School, spanning both the Thompson Field and Church Road campuses. The eruption of the Soufriere Hills volcano during his secondary education left an indelible mark on him, influencing his future ambitions and igniting his passion for community service. After completing his secondary education, Gilmore moved to the United States, where he attended City College in Miami, earning an Associate’s degree in Accounting. His academic journey culminated in 2024, when he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with honors from Greensboro College, proudly making the Dean’s list.
As a candidate in the 2024 general election under the MCAP banner, Gilmore brings a wealth of professional experience and a deep-seated commitment to Montserrat’s future. His career reflects a broad range of roles within the island, most notably his work with the BNTF office, where he provided oversight and support for various community-focused projects. This role allowed him to connect with diverse communities and stakeholders, gaining firsthand insights into the concerns and aspirations of Montserrat’s citizens.
Gilmore’s involvement extends beyond his professional life to active participation in community groups. He is particularly proud of his role as President of the Montserrat Amateur Basketball Association (MABA), where his passion for youth development shines through. His leadership has opened new opportunities for young people, fostering a spirit of growth and engagement. Additionally, Gilmore serves on the St. Patrick’s Cooperative Credit Union as a corporate governance member and as Treasurer of the Montserrat Motor Sports Association (MMSA), roles that highlight his commitment to accountability and community development.
His passion for community engagement has been evident over the past year through his involvement in the Prison Visiting Committee, the establishment of his non-profit company VISION 664 INC, and his sponsorship of a contestant in the 2023 Miss Teen Montserrat Pageant. His dedication to Montserrat’s future is further illustrated by his initiation of the Montserrat Annual Regional Basketball Invitational Tournament, which has become a significant event since its inception in 2022.
Gilmore’s political journey is driven by a deep desire to advocate for Montserrat’s youth, many of whom feel marginalized and seek opportunities abroad. He believes it is essential to enter the political arena to ensure that their voices are heard and their needs are met. His political stance is firmly grounded in the principles of honesty, accountability, integrity, and dependability—values that form the cornerstone of his commitment to the people of Montserrat and his decision-making within MCAP.
His key policy priorities include youth empowerment, population growth and retention, expanding sports development, enhancing tourism to stimulate economic growth, improving healthcare access, and addressing the revitalization of areas affected by volcanic activity. Gilmore envisions a future where Montserrat is a vibrant, thriving community with abundant opportunities for all its residents. He sees MCAP as the vehicle to lead the island towards this prosperous future, driven by inclusive growth and sustainable development.
For Gilmore, politics is not about personal gain but about serving others. He invites the people of Montserrat to join him on this journey towards a brighter future, affirming his readiness to serve with integrity and passion.
